Simple Lantern Crochet

 

Hi friends , welcome back to my blog. Ramadan 2021 is on the way. And with crochet what else can I think for. Lanterns are something which I always love for.

Love to hold with candle in them. And ramadan is something of light, cresent & stars.

Previously I had done a 3D lantern. So now made one for simple hanging home decor. It was really easy to make with simple stitches.

Today we will see a simple lantern crochet, as Ramadan 2021 is nearing. It's very easy. Its beginner friendly. Let's get started.

Crochet Terminology:

ch- chain

sc- single crochet

dc- double crochet

tr- treble crochet

hdc- half double crochet

slst- slip stitch

hook: 2.5mm

Written Pattern :

Step 1 : Magic ring. R 1:ch 2 is considered as 1st DC.

Step 2 : Now do pattern : (2 DCs, ch2) * 5 times.

Step 3 : slst to the 3rd chain of the 1st 3 chains.

Step 4 : R 2 : slst till you reach the ch 2 space.

Step 5 : ch3,2 DCs, ch3,3DCs in the ch 2 space.

Step 6 : 1 DC in the next stitches.

Step 7 : Repeat steps 5 & 6, till end of row.

Step 8 : R 3:  Repeat step 4.

Step 9 : Repeat steps 5 & 6 till end of row.

Step 10 : Keep doing slst all around, except in ch 3 space(slst, 1 SC, slst).

Step 11 : Change color, add it to the ch 3 space, do ch 3, 1 DC in the same space.

Step 12 : When you reach the mid position, for hanging , in ch3 space, do 2 DCs, ch 7, slst to the 1st                      chain, 2 DCs.

Step 13 :  Continue doing 1 DC in each till last stitch before the ch 3 space. And do 2 DCs in it . 

Step 14 : Cut off yarn & sew. Now for the bottom.

Step 15 : Add the same color yarn in the ch 3 space & do 1 DC in each in R 1. 

Step 16 : R 2 : ch 3 ( considered as 1st DC) & turn, do 1 more DC in that same space. Continue doing 1                 DC in each & 2 DCs in the last stitch.

Step 17 : R 3 : Repeat step16, till end of row. slst, cut off yarn & sew.

Step 18 : Lantern is ready!!!
