Balaclava crochet

 

Hi friends, assalamu alaikkum. Today we will see, a very easy beginner friendly, balaclava crochet. This is very easy to make.

So without further delay let's get into the project.

 

Crochet Terminology:


sl st - slip stitch 
sc- single crochet 
dc- double crochet 
tr- treble crochet 
hdc- half double crochet
ch- chain
 

Things needed:


1. Yarns

2. Darning Needle 

3. Scissors

4. Measuring tape

5. Needle & thread


Hook : 
4.5mm

Written Pattern:
Step 1 : Slipknot, followed by ch 25. 5 inch from jaw to collarbone.
Step 2 : 1 hdc on each on each ch till end of row.
Step 3 : ch 1 & turn. 1 hdc on each of the back loop only till the no. of rows needed. For me it took 54 rows, which is 16"
Step 4 : Sc both pieces together with right side facing together.
Step 5 : Measure from jaw to head top middle. for me it was 6 1/2"
Step 6 : R1 : ch 1 & 1 hdc on the same space.
Step 7 : 1 hdc on each stitch till end.
Step 8 : Don't slst.
Step 9 :R2-4:  ch 2 & turn.2 Dcs on the start & last stitch & 1 Dc on each of the remaining sts.
Step 10 : R5-11 : 1 Dc on each of the sts.
Step 11 : Once you reach 4 1/2" , do the decrease part.
Step 12 : R 12 : 1 Dc  on each stitch, mark 4 sts at the back, do Dc2tog twice & continue 1 Dc on each
Step 13 : R13 : 1 Dc on each, 1 Dc2tog on that decrease part & 1 Dc on each stitch.
Step 14 : R14 : 1 Dc on each stitch do Dc3tog on the decrease part, 1 Dc on each stitch.
Step 15 : R15-17 :  1 Dc on each stitch do Dc3tog on the decrease part, 1 Dc on each stitch.
Step 16 : Sc both pieces together.
Step 17 : ch 1, cut off & sew ends.
Step 18 : Drawstring, slipknot, followed by ch 121.
Step 19 : 1 slst on each till end of row. ch1, cut off & sew ends.
Step 20 : Fold the balaclava from in , add the drawstring and then sew it.
Step 21 : Pull the drawstring from side.
Step 22 : Your balaclava is ready to wear!!! I am doing this for my 5 year old.
