Foldable Market Bag Crochet

Hi friends, assalamu alaikkum. Hope you all are doing good. This time during vacation to India, I had to carry bag with me often to buy things from shop. Each time I forget that too and have to pay for extra bags. That let me to make this foldable bag. This was quite easy to make. Hope you too try it dears!!!

So without further delay let's get into the project.

rochet Terminology:

sl st - slip stitch 

sc- single crochet 

dc- double crochet 

tr- treble crochet 

hdc- half double crochet

ch- chain

 

Things needed:

1. Yarn

2. Darning Needle 

3. Scissors

4. Needle 

5.Stitch marker

6. button

hook : 

4.5 mm

 

Written Pattern:

Step 1 : Magic ring.

Step 2 : R1 : 10 Dcs in that ring. Slst at end.

Step 3 : R2 : 2 Dcs in each stitch.slst at end. Total 20 Dcs.

Step 4 : R3 : (1 Dc, 2 Dcs)* till end of row. slst at end. Total 30 Dcs.

Step 5 : R4 : (1 Dc, 1 Dc, 2 Dcs)* till end of row. Slst at end. Total 40 Dcs.

Step 6 : R5 : (1 Dc, 1 Dc, 1 Dc, 2 Dcs)* till end of row. Total 50 Dcs.

Step 7 : R6 : (1 Dc, 1 Dc, 1 Dc, 1 Dc, 2 Dcs)* till end of row. Slst at end. Total 60 Dcs.

Step 8 : Ch 1, cut off & sew ends.

Step 9 : Repeat steps 1 to7 once. 

Step 10 : Please don't cut off. 

Step 11 : Make the 2 piece's right side, facing together.

Step 12 : Mark the 1st and 12th st with stitch marker, for the opening

Step 13 : Sc on each stitch except the 12 stitches.

Step 14 : Now start to work from those 12 stitches.

Step 15 : ch 5, skip the 2 stitches, Sc to the 3rd stitch.

Step 16 : Repeat step 15 till end of row.

Step 17 : while starting new row, stitch mark that position.

Step 18 : repeat the pattern for the no. of rows needed. I did 14 rows.

Step 19 : now do 2 scs in the ch 5 and 1 sc in the sc.

Step 20 : do 2 rows of sc in each stitch.

Step 21 : Mark the handle positions by folding in half, and placing it on the 7th stitch from the middle on both sides.

Step 22 : sc on each stitch , now in the stitch marked position ch 71 and sc on the next stitch marked position. Repeat the pattern till end of row. slst at end.

Step 23 : do 2 more rows of sc on each stitch. slst at end.

Step 24 : bag is ready

Step 25 : now the closing handle, we will work on the next non worked 12 stitches.

Step 26 : slst on the 1st stitch, continue sc on the 6 stitches

Step 27 : ch 27.

Step 28 : sc on the next stitch and continue sc on the remaining stitches.

Step 29 : slst at end, ch 1, cut off & sew ends. Sew a button.

Step 30 : Your bag is ready!!!!
